Let’s chat essential oil storage take two! This time we are in the kitchen, probably the most common area outside of the medicine cabinet that you’ll need your oils on hand. So I scooped up this sweet wood shadow box a few years ago at Goodwill because it reminded me of my grandma Vivian. She has just like it in her home in Iowa and I have fond memories of looking her treasures that filled it up just so, little statues and silly things the size of quarters that always used to make me smile. I think most were an assortment of random tokens she and my grandpa picked up along their travels, but I particularly remember a teeny tiny gum ball machine about the size of a small lincoln log. The gum balls inside were about the size of poppy seeds and I always wondered how they made gum balls that small? Such a sweet memory.

Now I don’t have many fancy trinkets or clever doodads of any kind to show off in our shadow box (other than a small white pig and a tablespoon measuring goose) but I do have tiny oil bottles! They just happen to be the perfect size for storing my beautiful glass amber .5 oz. droppers. There are a few oils I like to have on hand in the kitchen for a variety of things, most of them for diffusing and purifying the air, and some others for cooking when I want to add a boost of flavor.  Here’s my list:

  • Thieves Oil Blend – for my all-purpose cleaner and for when we need immune system support
  • Lemon Oil – for grease & goo and in baking and roasting all the roasts!
  • Lavender Oil – if you get a minor burn, rash or bug bite
  • Purification Oil Blend – to clean our dishwasher and to diffuse when there’s a funk going on
  • Cinnamon Oil & Orange Oil– my current favorite to diffuse this season
  • Rosemary Oil – for roasted as well and baking all the baked goods!

There ya have it, one more pretty and practical way to store your essential oils without having to put them in a cupboard or tucked away in a drawer. They are out and visible but pretty. To check out another way to store and organize them, head here and read this post. I’m curious, what are your favorite oils to have within reach in the kitchen?

  • Laurence - Are those diluted or do you just take the labels off the bottles and use droppers? And if the bottles are diluted, what do you put in? (Sorry for the poor english!)ReplyCancel

  • Ashley - My grandmother also has a shadowbox in her living room and kitchen filled with little trinkets 🙂 It will always be a fond memory of mine to see those shadowboxes displayed so proudly, curiously wondering the story behind each item 🙂 xxReplyCancel
