Lilacs and Lily Bells | A Mid-Spring Playlist

When I think of spring songs, I things of sounds that echo falling rain and blooming flowers. Ones with higher notes and softer melodies that sort of drift along and twinkle, making you want to rock on the porch so you can listen to nature stretch its arms and put on it’s pretty new clothing. I discovered lily-of-the-valley growing in our flower garden last year and that made me so happy. My grandma Vivian had them lined up on the side of their blue house when I was little and I’d secretly pick them one by one. They are the tiniest little bell flowers but they smell so good!

Songs of spring are a delight. They take me outside to discover new growth in the garden, but also inside to search around and unearth things trying to bud in my heart. Spring is a bursting season for trying new things, setting fresh goals, shedding old habits, and letting go of fears. It’s a blank canvas kind of season for me, and always has been. Is it like that for you, too? It’s also a season for courage I think, and these songs take me to a content and introspective place where things fit, fall into place, and feel just right. There are some things I need to let go of, and things I really want to start doing in place of that worry each day. I am going to listen to this playlist when I need a reset or a boost to be true to myself.

I added a whopping 50 songs to this playlist so it will take us all the way into the start of summer, where I’ll pick up the pace a bit with more lively beats, summer concert tunes, plus a few foot-stompin’ banjos, because who doesn’t love that for a campout or BBQ? What are you loving and listening to? Send some recs my way!

PS. If you want to listen to past playlists, they are all nestled into my READ & LISTEN series.

Lovely playlist, have been listening to it quite a bit! This might be common knowledge to you but just wanted to remind you that lily of the valley is poisonous :-I Just so your little munchkins don’t eat them/their flowers/berries or touch the water from their vase.
