It’s summer playlist time again! Here are some of our favorite jams right now, song that I take with me when picking weeds and peppers in the garden with the kids, shucking corn in back for supper, and when on walks with the kids around the neighborhood.

It’d say most of these songs lean more towards southern folk but some also have an upbeat bluesy touch to them. The first band is a mother/son duo from KC, which I think is pretty neat. They make front porch blues and really get us moving over here, especially on Fridays when Andrew doesn’t have to be in the office until later. This mix is way different from the last one I made, which was an ode to the 20’s and jazzier and everything you’d want if on a picnic.

If you have any good music suggestions you think we’d like, throw them my way! We are always looking for new songs and bands to dance to, and our preference in music is quite varied.

You can also follow me on Spotify, my username is mamawatters. Have fun listening!

  • Jenny - Try out Regina Spector … I love her and a german singer, Philipp Poisel. Amazing!ReplyCancel

    • admin - Jenny, oh how I love Regina Spector. Listening to her reminds me of college. The song “My Moon My Man” is one of my favs. I’ll be sure to check out Philipp Poisel, thank you kindly!ReplyCancel

      • Kosima - Oh, Philipp Poisel! Beautiful music. I especially love “Ich will nur” (I just want… you to know that I love you still). When you like German music, there are some good ones. “Still” (silent) from Jupiter Jones. But this one also lives from the lyrics I guess. And I also love Gregor Meyle. And also beautiful is “Wie schön Du bist” from Sarah Connor. A lovesong for her son. But also – the lyrics always get me.ReplyCancel

  • Mary powers - Haha perfect timing! I just messaged you on snap 😄 Going to follow it right now 🏃🏻💨💨💨ReplyCancel

    • admin - Mary, woo! Happy listening girl. x AmandaReplyCancel

  • marie - i have never used spotify. just signed up but cannot figure out how i can follow you. is it only on Facebook? don’t do Facebook.ReplyCancel

    • admin - Marie, it’s not on Facebook. I don’t do that either. If you go to https://www.spotify.com/us/ and create an account and then type mamawatters in the search bar you should find my account and you can follow along!ReplyCancel

      • marie - thanks for helping me figure that out. learn something new everyday. found you. 🙂

saw that mom and son duo on letterman couple years ago. really enjoyed them. thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel

  • Meghan K. - You are adorable. I love seeing how you do life with littles- I have a freshly-turned-1-year-old and a babe on the way! So mama-inspiration is so welcomed. Can’t wait to explore more of your posts. Some favorites of mine are angus & julia stone, the civil wars, this adorable couple with tons of YouTube posts called johnnyswim. 💗ReplyCancel

    • admin - Meghan, thank you for reminding me of the Civil Wars! I had completely forgotten about them. So good. Thanks for stopping by mama and best of luck with the new babe! x AmandaReplyCancel

  • Sadie Minckler - Great playlist! Check out this group called The Bear (albums Overseas Then Under and the next one with just the bear on the cover). My husband was the drummer and they have played with the Alabama Shakes several times. We love to listen to them around here 🙂ReplyCancel

    • Sadie Minckler - Specifically “Only Glue” and their first album 🙂 Enjoy!ReplyCancel

  • Melissa - High fives for keeping up on your garden through July—almost August! I am good at anticipating gardening…and it peters out shortly after I plant. I give myself good excuses like moving and birthing, but next year…next year I’m going to follow your example. Hopefully. XxooReplyCancel

    • admin - Melissa, don’t be too hard on yourself! Ours is totally trial and error. The only thing I am alright at is greens, peppers and tomatoes. Flowers sometimes and everything else is just a wait and see! And moving and birthing…well those are just small things, right?! Ha. BEST excuses to neglect other things in my opinion. x AmandaReplyCancel

  • Kosima - I don’t know about Spotify and if I would have access to your account from Germany, but I love the music you put under your snaps and because of you I got to know (and love) The Avett Brothers. So I want to share with you what I listen to a lot right now: Joshua Hyslop, Josh Garrels, Gabrielle Aplin, Nick Drake. I could go on… And do you know “Into the sun” by Chris and Thomas? And “Bottled up tight” by Luke Sital-Singh? And “Depth over distance” by Ben Howard? And last, but not least, I’m a big fan of Tina Dico, who’s a singer/songwriter from Denmark. I also love the Parenthood soundtracks and Coldplay (who doesn’t love Coldplay, right?).ReplyCancel

    • Kosima - Oh, and if you like the piano, listen to Ludovico Einaudi. He’s an Italian pianist.ReplyCancel

    • admin - Kosima, wonderful suggestions, thank you! And Coldplay…yes yes yes. Always Coldplay. x AmandaReplyCancel

  • Jessie - So alike you and I. Musical twins to boot! Love it all, lady. Following alonggggg. xxReplyCancel

  • Katie Novikoff - I have always loved the music you share via your snaps, so I am extra happy about your Spotify playlists! Enjoying the picnic one as we speak.🤗 PS, in regards to your post about books – have you read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp? It is life-changing, all about gratitude, and I think right up your alley.🙌🏼

Thanks for sharing the beauty of life!ReplyCancel
