“It is the sweet, simple things of life which are real after all.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder
This morning the sun rose behind the clouds and filled our home with softest winter light. It was a glow that said, “Good morning to you,” as it quietly seeped in, comforting us as we stirred to start our day, for it’s a such special one. The time has arrived where I get to share a big part of my heart with you, my new journal is complete! As you can see, this space has been freshened up a bit, or a lot rather, and in the process has taken on a new name, one that better speaks to my soul as a both a mother and homemaker. Let me tell you a bit about it.
Homesong started a few years back in my leather-bound moleskin. It began as a few scribbles and sketches and quotes, and over time, has grown and changed with me, turning into something I am taken with and so very proud of. As a storyteller and maker of things, it has always been my hope to create an inviting space that reflects the beauty and joy of homemaking and motherhood, grounded in themes of simplicity and intention.
With this in mind, I’ve created what I believe to be a well-rounded series that is organized around the celebration of simple things done with care as they echo the four seasons. Midwest living has tied us to nature in such a profound way, one that both practically and poetically affects our lives as we raise little ones. This journal is a reflection of that. It is a space to share and grow and take pleasure in all of life’s little moments, that when woven together tell our story.
There are some lovely features of Homesong I think you’ll quite like. You now have the ability to search content in a variety of ways making this space easy to navigate, something I value and appreciate when perusing other blogs. It was also important to me that this journal be one that fosters connection with its readership, offering you inspiration and reflection. There is an option to subscribe to our mailing list, as is there a place to learn more about natural wellness and how we use essential oils. I hope you like it!
To those who followed It’s the Little Things, know that many beloved posts have followed me here, as they laid the foundation for which my love of writing and photography was born. Others are in line for much needed makeover with new images and updated recipes, and inevitably, some posts will be archived and left behind, a keepsake to look back on and savor when I’m feeling nostalgic. Like the dawn of a new season, this journal is starting on a fresh note. The linens have been changed on this bed and there are new flowers on it’s nightstand. It feels so good to have arrived here.
Alright, dear friends! I’ll leave you to take a look around. Welcome to Homesong.
x Amanda
